The Greenhouse Project is a program of NY Sun Works dedicated to improving K through 12 grade Environmental Science Education in urban schools. We use hydroponic farming technology with integrated curriculum and professional development to educate students and teachers about science and sustainability. The science content of our program is conveyed through the lens of hydroponic urban farming and addresses topics in biology, chemistry, physics, earth sciences, and the living environment. Through hands-on, project-based and cross-disciplinary learning, The Greenhouse Project fosters a deep understanding of local and global environmental issues such as water resource management, climate change, biodiversity, conservation, pollution, waste management, urban planning, land use, food production and nutrition.
NY Sun Works seeks to expand our program by implementing the Greenhouse Project in a cluster of K-8 Miami-Dade
