Civic Engagement

Public Servants awareness day

Each year, the center solicit and recruits young adults from 18-35 and engage them to getting to know their elected officials. The day begins with morning devotion centered around scriptures giving authority to public servants, then followed by breakfast. Following Breakfast, the larger group participates in an opening plenary that covers elected offices from local cities up to the federal level. Following the plenary, the larger group is split into four categories:

1. Cities

2. County

3. State

4. Federal

Each group is facilitated by a peer with discussion around discovering each individual's elected officials. The ultimate goal of this day is to help motivate young adults to take an active part in their communities and begin their civic engagement journey. We conclude the day with a visit to a preselected elected officer and staff.
