What data points from The Our Miami Report does your project address?

As emphasized in the Our Miami Report, access to quality public spaces is a “critical component of a vibrant urban environment.” The creation of Gratigny Plateau Park is an example of how a strong public-private partnership works to foster community resilience and improve the quality of life in Miami-Dade County. The proposed project will continue the partnership’s revitalization efforts and enhance the quality of the park with the installation of four interactive learning stations for youth.

Please give examples of your project's success.

A two-year partnership lead by Local 10 News, supported by the Miami-Dade Parks Department and other community and business leaders, culminated in the development of Gratigny Plateau Park. Transformed into a clean, accessible and safe place for children and adults to recreate and grow, the park was designed to resemble a flower “signaling new life for a community in need.” The new community park contains walking paths, fresh-air fitness stations, playground, benches, and a butterfly garden.

Who are you?

Ignition Fund supports brilliant ideas and innovation in
the fight against sex trafficking and violence against children. Ignition Accelerator use the techniques proven to develop effective programs in this field to support social ventures broadly.

How does this project impact the issue you selected?

Miami has a vibrant non-profit ecosystem with major players who draw national attention for innovation. There is remarkable coordination among these institutions for tackling long-established problems.

Our world is changing rapidly and those with the least are impacted disproportionately. But the established organizations are not best suited to address needs that arise quickly. Their large size, long funding cycles, and complex procedures make rapid change difficult for leading non-profits.

What data points from The Our Miami Report does your project address?

Ignition Accelerator will clearly spur economic growth. It will also bolster civic engagement and raise volunteer and charitable participation through new avenues to participate for all.

The impacts are multiplied across each of the eight targeted segments as each graduating class will support multiple social venture organizations. There will be particular emphasis on health and safety, arts and culture, and education while creating economic and social benefit through effective programs.

Please give examples of your project's success.
