Who are you?

Miami Children’s Museum (MCM) is dedicated to enriching the lives of all children by fostering a love of learning and enabling children to realize their highest potential. In Miami, MCM is often a child’s first museum experience.

How does this project impact the issue you selected?

In line with numerous national studies showing the benefits of exposing young children to the arts, the MCM Superheroes stimulate and develop imagination and creativity, which, in turn help children develop critical thinking skills and strengthen problem-solving skills. Creative activity helps build focus, discipline, self-confidence, and risk-taking – essential skills for succeeding in school and in life. The fun, cool MCM Superheroes are an innovative way to have a BIG impact on LOTS of kids.

What data points from The Our Miami Report does your project address?

This project addresses Education and Arts & Culture by exposing children to important concepts, through a dramatic arts performance, that will help them succeed in school and in life. Providing access to high-quality arts-based activities to more children, especially those who have some type of barrier to arts and culture experiences, makes Miami a better city for the youngest citizens, kids in the public school system and their caregivers.

Please give examples of your project's success.

Past public recognition: “Best Museum in Miami” by the Miami New Times; “Best Children’s Museum” by South Florida Parenting Magazine; Beacon Council’s Education Award, one of “Top 10 Children’s Museums in the World” by VIATOR Travel blog; referred to as “undoubtedly one of the most innovative and interesting children’s museums in America” by; awarded Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce 2014 NOVO award recognizing MCM’s Sensory Saturday program for children affected by Autism.
