Who are you?

Launched by Technology Foundation of the Americas, eMerge Americas is a large-scale technology conference which showcases entrepreneurial innovation and trends through 6 industrial summits that will catalyze our community’s technology corridor.

How does this project impact the issue you selected?

eMerge Americas will impact our community’s economy by helping to connect entrepreneurs with established professionals in diverse industries: information technology, education, finance, health, government, and media/entertainment. This annual event will contribute to the creation of a world-class technology hub that helps entrepreneurs connect with industry professionals to develop their business ideas and create jobs that will drive our local economy.

What data points from The Our Miami Report does your project address?

Our project targets the two economic data points identified by The Our Miami Report:
Miami’s employment growth rate rose from 2.5% (2013) to 3.0% (2014) exceeding the national increase of 1.9%. However, according to Forbes, Miami is only ranked #58 in job growth. eMerge seeks to help Miami break the top #50 ranking by using emerging technologies to: 1) create a path for entrepreneurs to develop new business & 2) accelerate the number of innovative job opportunities available to the community.

Please give examples of your project's success.

eMerge Americas is transforming Miami’s economic landscape by engaging entrepreneurs of all ages. Our Startup Showcase allows start-ups and late-stage companies to compete in a 2-day challenge, while our STEM-focused activities provide K-16 students with opportunities to see their ideas come to life! Our inaugural conference attracted over 3,000 students and 6,000 attendees from 400 companies. We anticipate that our next event will attract 5,000 students and 10,000 attendees from 500 companies.
